Starting Friday, October 2nd, some Companies may have
received a new license (A 1 Business) in the mail from
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,
Division of Professional License: Board of Electricians.
Moving forward, this A 1 License will replace your Companies,
A License (Masters) or C License (Systems Contractors)
that is currently attached to your Business.
At this time, there has been no set date that the A 1 License
will supersede the A or C License. Until then, the
A, B, C or A 1 Licenses can be used to pull permits and
as always, B and D Licenses should be carried
by each Licensed Individual at all times.
We believe the Board of Electricians made this change
to ensure that when complaints are being filed and penalties
are being issued against Companies, they remain with
Company on their permanent record and not only the
Licensed individuals record.
Also, if you are the A or C License Holder for your company,
we believe that when you renew your License
for the 2022 – 2025 Renewal Cycle your A or C License
will be converted back to your Individual Name and
no longer list your Companies Name.

about this current change and will keep you posted
as more information becomes available.
